Selling an item online is painful journey for online resellers. In particular, looking for the perfect price to sell an item and creating a listing optimized for specific marketplaces are tasks that can take up to hours to be completed. This makes online resellers feel discouraged and imprint in their mind the idea that such effort is not worthy for the revenue they could get out of their listing.
So here is how Venato can help them to save a significant amount of time...
In the initial stages of the product design, I gathered some insights about the market research conducted by the CEO. Based on the insights I gathered, I was able to list the main pain points that affect online resellers during a usual listing flow:
-too much time spent for researching the price of an item
-too much effort from their end for creating a listing
-lack of a system that could simply help them to catalog their items and track their prices during time
Thanks to Venato’s AI integration, online resellers can create listings and save up to 90% of the time.
Every time the user uploads the picture of an item, the system extracts the main attributes from the picture (such as brand, size, conditions…). After this step, Venato’s AI finds for the user the optimal price range for their product.
Together with the CEO and the CTO, I defined a flow which could be as simple as possible for the user and which would have required only few actions from them.
For solving the need of having a catalog where keeping track of the items a user possess and may want to sell one day, I designed a “portfolio”feature.
Just like in a trading app, where the user keeps track of their investments’ ups and downs during time, in Venato the user would’ve kept track of all the items uploaded on the app and tracked their value. This feature would’ve helped the user to figure out the total value of their items and understand when would’ve been the right time to sell something, according to the market’s needs.
For designing this feature, I conducted a research among several trading apps. This analysis helped me to understand some recurring patterns of such features, and to find a way on how to translate this kind of feature inside Venato, in a more simplified way.
The main issues that our target user was facing had been tackled and I had managed to define some key steps on how to solve them. It was then time to turn these ideas into something concrete.
After defining the main specs that both features should have had, I created some wireframes for breaking down their key elements.
High-fidelity screens for simplifying both features and heading to the final prototypes
Turning the wireframes into high-fidelity screens has helped me and the team to test the full flow and simplify both features even more.
After polishing the last details, I have worked on a prototype of both the upload and the portfolio feature. We have presented these prototypes to some online resellers, for gathering MORE feedback about the overall experience.
After creating the prototype of the portfolio feature and the listing creation flow, I have conducted a test on a group of 10 online resellers. Thanks to feedback gotten in this test, I could understand if the features designed could solve the initial pain points I have analyzed in the initial research.
The test got a 90% overall success rate among the users I have interviewed and received very positive and insightful feedback.
